January 2026
Happy New Year everyone, I hope that you had a wonderful and restful Christmas break.
This is the month that we are going back where we left off and we will start something new to learn.
In Language Arts, we are continuing with our Spelling program. We will also continue our Novel Study - Chocolate Touch. Give yourself a pat on your shoulder as you are doing a wonderful job in doing and answering all those comprehension worksheets. You are all doing an amazing job. Keep it up. We are also going to continue learning about grammar, phonics and writing in your journals. We will continue working on our comprehension skills.
In Math, we start with a short unit about Roman Numerals. Introduce to them a little bit about the basics. It is always important to know a little something about this topic. It may be a difficult topic but it is worth it.We continue with our Mad Minutes using Addition and Subtraction and solving Word Problems.
In Science, we started by learning the two different types of Trees - Deciduous and Coniferous. They sorted, cut, glued, and labeled. Christmas Trees are examples of Coniferous Trees.
In Social Studies, we continue learning about their Rights and Responsibilities. And before we begin with a new lesson about Canada, we will have a short unit about the Inuit Culture. We will identify and learn who are they, what do they do and other important information. In Art, we will do a 3D version of the igloo.
in Religion, we finished learning about Advent and Christmas. This month, there are more important feasts and solemnities that the church is celebrating. We talked about Epiphany and now we are talking about the Baptism of the Lord.
Dates to Remember:
Tuesday, January 13 - Mass, Early dismissal at 2:25 pm. Start of Mad Science
Friday, January 23 - NUT Day, Winter Family Dance 7:00-10:00pm.
Please make it a habit to always check your child's agenda. Please sign it. Important messages, dates, homework and daily reminders are written in their agenda. Please wear proper outdoor clothes all the time. Check the weather regularly.
Keep safe and stay warm,
Mrs. Francisco
