November
November
It was great to speak with all of the families at
student-led conferences. The students
were very proud of the work they put into their portfolios and were very
excited to take them home and share them with their family.
November is a time of remembrance and peace. The grade three students have been learning
about Remembrance Day and we took part in the Remembrance Day ceremony on
Thursday, November 7th.
In Language Arts, we have been focusing on our reading,
writing and spelling. We have been
writing in our journals, working in our phonics and spelling text books and
writing summaries and reviews of stories we are reading in class. The students are working on adding detail to
their writing to make it more interesting and re-reading our work to make sure
it makes sense.
In Math, we are beginning our next unit on Place Value. We will learn expanded form, base ten blocks
and written form for numbers from 1-1000.
We will continue to do our Math Minutes on addition and subtraction so
please remember to practice addition facts up to 18 at home.
In Social Studies, we are continuing to learn about being a
good Canadian citizen. We will be
learning about leadership, decision making and conflict resolution this
month.
In Science, we are learning about Growth and Changes in
Plants. We will learn about the types of
trees, compare different types of plants, and learn what plants need in order
to survive.
