Wow! It’s hard to believe we are already in the month of December.  We have been busily preparing for the Christmas Concert and the kids are so excited to share it with their families. 

Although it is a very busy time of year, we are still doing a lot of learning in the classroom. 

In Language Arts, we are working on reading comprehension, phonics and grammar within our writing.  We are writing in our Journals every week and we will be working on different Christmas writing projects throughout the month.  We will be continuing with our weekly spelling program as well. 

In Math we are working on our skip counting to 100 by 3’s and 4’s.  We are also working on our skip counting to 1000 by 5’s, 10’s, 25’s and 100’s.  We are also continuing to practise our addition and subtraction facts to 18 for quicker recall and accuracy. 

In Science we are continuing our unit about Growth and Changes in Plants.  The students enjoyed working in groups to compare the similarities and differences between two types of plants. 

In Social Studies, we are learning about leadership and looking at the different leaders in the school and community.  We will also discuss informal vs formal leadership. 

In Religion, we are talking all about Advent and Christmas and preparing for the coming of Jesus.  Grade 3 will also be in charge of doing Mass for the school on Tuesday, December 10th at 11:00am.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

  Welcome Back to School! Welcome to Grade 3!      I hope that everyone had a good and enjoyable summer.      Grade 3 is considered to be a big year. But I would like to think that this is the year that we "prepare" them for works that big kids do for the upper year.      To give you an overview of what is going to happen in this grade, I have listed some of them for you.  Grade 3 is the year that the children are becoming more independent especially in their work.  They will be having tests in all subjects with review sheets. They will be the one responsible for putting all their paper in the right place or right duotang. Grade 3 is where they get their knowledge to do things in the upper grade. March and April

  Happy Easter! Happy Spring!  Christ is Risen! Indeed, He is Risen!  March was a pretty busy month for the Grade 3s. The Grade 3s are all working so hard especially this term. It is the last term to master everything what we need to learn this year. This month the Grade 3s learned a lot.  April is another busy month for us all. There is so much to do and learn. We also have a learning fair to prepare.  In Religion, we learned about the season of Lent. Lent is the time to look closely at ourselves, our relationships with ourselves, with others and of course with God. We are always asked to be good. We are called to be good, in mind, heart and body. In everything we think, we say and most especially on what we do.   When you're doing a lot of learning, time flies so fast. And this is what we in the Grade 3 class is feeling. It is already the month of November and a lot has happened already and there's so much more to learn and do in the Grade 3 class.  We finished our Provincial Assessment last month and I can say that it went well. I am happy to say that even if the results of their assessment says that they're not there yet, I believe that they're getting there soon. I am proud of what they have achieved and there's always room for improvement.  We are learning so much. In ELA, we are strengthening their alphabetical skills so that they will be ready to learn more complex skills like the finding words in the dictionary and looking for its meaning. We also started Printing practices. They need to remember to stay on the line, write consistently their letters and to know when to use uppercase and lowercase letters.
