JOY, LOVE, HOPE, PEACE
CHRISTMAS
Advent comes from the Latin word "adventus" which means "coming". It is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and also of preparation for the Second Coming of Christ.
While we wait for the coming of Jesus Christ, we need to remember to keep these things in our mind in our heart. We need to have to JOY, LOVE, HOPE, PEACE then we will fully understand the real meaning of CHRISTMAS.
Let us all remember that J in the candy cane stands for JESUS.
The first four months of the school year is almost over. Our first term is done. I can say that the Grade 3's are slowly getting used to the routines and expectations from them. I would like to thank you for your wonderful efforts.
We are learning so much. In ELA, it is the continuation of everything that we have started so far. Alphabetical Skills, Phonics for letter sounds, Spelling and Printing. They are always reminded to remember to stay on the line, write consistently their letters and to know when to use uppercase and lowercase letters. They need to ensure that their printing will be readable, cleaner and clearer.
In Math, we finish our Mad Minutes single digit booklet Addition and Subtraction Facts 0-18. The next Mad minutes we're going to do is Addition and Subtraction of two or three digits with and without regrouping plus Word Problems. These activities will help them improve their Mental Math Skills.
In Religion, we talked about advent and the liturgical seasons.
In Science, we finished learning about the basic information about plants, its needs and its life cycle. Now we delve deeper into the different parts of the plants.
In Social Studies, we finished talking about Canada's national anthem. We discussed the do's and dont's on how to take care of the Canada flag. The next lesson we are going to do is to learn more about the different flags and information about the 10 provinces and 3 territories. We will prepare for the Social Studies learning fair that will soon come in April.
In Art, we are going to do pretty cool Artworks. Just watched out for it.
Thank you to all the parents who are supporting every single fundraiser that the school is doing. It means a lot. When we support the school fundraiser, let us remember that the whole school community benefits from it.
