November 2023

When you're doing a lot of learning, time flies so fast. And this is what we in the Grade 3 class is feeling. It is already the month of November and a lot has happened already and there's so much more to learn and do in the Grade 3 class.

We finished our Provincial Assessment last month and I can say that it went well. I am happy to say that even if the results of their assessment says that they're not there yet, I believe that they're getting there soon. I am proud of what they have achieved and there's always room for improvement.

We are learning so much. In ELA, we are strengthening their alphabetical skills so that they will be ready to learn more complex skills like the finding words in the dictionary and looking for its meaning. We also started Printing practices. They need to remember to stay on the line, write consistently their letters and to know when to use uppercase and lowercase letters. They need to ensure that their printing will be readable, cleaner and clearer. In Spelling, we are now in Unit 8. The words are getting harder but we are slowly getting there.

In Math, we do our Mad Minutes on a regular basis so they can improve their Mental Math Skills. We are doing our number of the day to practice number sense and the different ways that numbers could be represented. We will soon learn about the 2 digit Addition and Subtraction With and Without Regrouping. It is challenging most especially when we are writing our numbers properly, making sure it is aligned according to its digit.

In Religion, we have covered a few units and we are discussing smaller lessons like Five Finger Prayer, The Rosary and its Mysteries, All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Soon, we will talk about ADVENT.

In Science, we learned about Plants and its importance. We have learned about the needs of a plant. We are currently doing our first experiment. Growing seeds with the use of tissue paper acting as soil. We haven't got the results that we want but we will continue to follow it through till we get the result that we want. We also started with a small unit about the Four Sacred Plants (Indigenous). This lesson will actually help us understand the importance of these plants to our indigenous brothers and sisters. It is quite expensive to acquire the real plants so I am showing them the pictures of what these plants looks like.  Next lesson that we are going to have is plants life cycle.

In Social Studies, we are done learning about Canada and its 10 provinces and 3 territories. In our next lesson, we will talk about Canada's flag, our national anthem. We will also talk about Canada's first people. We also talk about Remembrance and in the Grade 3 class, our main focus is all about Peace. What does it feel like, looks like and smells like? Watch out for latest activity about peace.

In Art, we are going to do pretty cool Artworks. Just watched out for it.

Thank you to all the parents who came to our conference. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
