March

March is another busy month for the Grade 3's. We are working so hard and learning so much and we still have so much to do and learn. It is already the Third Term but it feels like we are just starting to get settled and be more familiar with the routines and expectations in Grade 3.

We are making sure that we are doing the best that we can in every task that we do, be it worksheets, activities and most especially tests. The Grade 3's affirmation is always BELIEVE IN MYSELF. I BELIEVE IN MYSELF!

In Religion, since it is now the season of Lent, we started learning about this season in the Church calendar. Lent is a time for prayer, fasting/abstaining, and alms giving. Lent is also the time to look closely in our relationships with ourselves, with others and most especially our relationship with God. As Christians we are ALWAYS called to do good, to be kind and to love everyone. We are learning to care more for others and we are learning to be more empathetic and caring. We also listened and reflected on the Stations of the Cross. It helps us understand what Christ had experienced. It is very important to know Christ's Passion, Death and Resurrection. Then we will be celebrating Easter Christ Resurrection. It's a new beginning and a new hope.

As part of our Lenten Almsgiving, please bring a rice donation.

In Spelling, we are doing better and better every Spelling test and we are looking forward to learning more new words.

In Language Arts, we learned about Adjectives. It is fun to know how to use these adjectives and describe ourselves and our classmates.

In Math, we are continuously strengthening our Addition and Subtraction Facts 0-12, 0-18 during our Mad Minutes. It is always a challenge and they love the challenge. We learned about Telling Time, Canadian Money coins and bills. After the break, we will be learning about Skip Counting 2s - 12s.

In Science, we are having so much fun learning about the different facts about plants. We finished facts about Leaves, the leaves that we can eat. We are now learning the anatomy of flowers, the flowers we can eat.

In Social Studies, we are learning in detail the different facts about each of the provinces. We finished talking about Alberta and now we are learning about British Columbia.

In French, we are reviewing about the different lessons like Colors, Alphabet, Numbers, Days and Months of the Year and Seasons. We are practicing to pronounce them properly.

In Art, we love doing our Arts projects. We did a few exciting art projects – Heart Art String and Heart Map. Then we will be doing Bubble Wrap Easter Egg Design. Here in Grade 3, we take pride of all the fancy artworks that we do.

Please make sure that you are checking and signing your child’s agenda everyday. This is a great tool for communication between school and home.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please feel free to write me a note in their agenda or send me an email to grade3sgs@gmail.com.

Thank you, stay safe and keep warm.

Mrs. Francisco
