April

         HELLO APRIL!
A good day isn't always
Perfect . It challenges you to
Release your potential and
Inspires you to appreciate the
Little and amazing things in life.

April is another busy month for us, Grade 3s. And we are always working so hard and learning so many things. In Grade 3, time is very important.

Again, we are always making sure that we are doing the best that we can in every task, homework, activities, and tests. We are focused and behaved. We believe in ourselves. The Grade 3s affirmation is I BELIEVE IN MYSELF!

In Religion, we have learned so much about Christ and His Kingdom. We have learned about our role as Christians. We have learned that to be a Christian should not only be in word but more of an action. As Christians we are ALWAYS called to do good, to be kind and to love everyone. We are learning to care more for others and we are learning to be more empathetic and caring. We learned the different information about Lent. We also listened and reflected on the Stations of the Cross. It helps us understand what Christ had experienced. It is very important to know Christ's Passion, Death and Resurrection.

In Spelling, we are doing better and better every Spelling test and we are looking forward to learning more new words.

In Language Arts, we started learning about Nouns and its different kinds. We learned about Common and Proper Nouns, the different Plural forms of Nouns, Abstract and Concrete Nouns and we will also learn about Collective Nouns. We are also learning about Contractions. In our next lesson, we will talk about Verbs and Adjectives.

In Math, we are continuously strengthening our Addition and Subtraction with and without regrouping. We are also adding 3 – 4 digits numbers. We are also doing Skip Counting 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, 11s, and 12s. We started learning Multiplication. We made our own Multiplication flashcards and our own Multiplication Chart. We are strengthening our knowledge in Multiplication by doing Mad Minutes in Multiplication in a regular basis. We also learned about Canadian money, the bills and coins. The next we will learn is learning how to read the time.

In Science, we are having so much fun learning about the different facts about plants. The last lesson that we learned about plants is the different plants parts that we can eat. For our new lesson, we are talking about Forces and Motion, Electricity and Magnetism. We get so excited to learn about Magnets.

In Social Studies, we have learned about the different flags, provincial flowers and birds, and major cities of each Canadian province. In our next lesson, we are talking about Canadian Citizenship, our Rights and Responsibilities. An interview homework was given to some of the students whose parents who have undergone the process of being Canadian citizens. There will be a presentation and will be inviting a guest speaker about his journey to Canadian Citizenship.

In French, we have learned about our different Body Parts in French. We will also learn Canadian currency in French.

In Art, we love doing our Arts projects. We did a few exciting art projects – Heart Optical Illusion, Watercolor Crucifix and Crucifix Art - Jelly Bean Prayer using Toothbrush. Here in Grade 3, we take pride of all the fancy artworks that we do.

Please make sure that you are checking and signing your child’s agenda everyday. This is a great tool for communication between school and home.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please feel free to write me a note in their agenda or send me an email to grade3sgs@gmail.com.

Thank you, stay safe and keep warm.

Mrs. Francisco
