“Though the weather is getting colder, keep your heart warm by feeling for others.”

February is always a super busy for us. So many things are happening, and one thing is for sure, we, the Grade 3 are also super busy learning and working.

Again, we are making sure that we are always doing the best that we can in every task, homework, worksheet, and tests. We are focused and behaved.

In Religion, we have learned so much about Christ and His Kingdom. We have learned about our role as Christians. We have learned that to be a Christian should not only be in word but more of an action. As Christians we are called to do good, to be kind and to love everyone. We learned the Liturgical calendar of the Church and soon we will be learning about Lent, the Triduum, Easter and Pentecost.

In Spelling, we are doing better and better every Spelling test and we are looking forward to learning more new words.

In Language Arts, we have learned about Capitalization, Synonyms, Antonyms. We will be learning about Homonyms and different Parts of Speech, and we will start with Nouns and Verbs.

In Math, we are continuously strengthening our Addition and Subtraction with and without regrouping. We are also adding 3 – 4 digits numbers. We have learned Roman Numerals, Comparing and Ordering of Numbers and Skip Counting by 3s, 4s and 5s. Soon we’ll work on Skip Counting by 6s to 12s. After spring break, we will be doing Multiplication.

In Science, we are having so much fun learning about the different facts about plants. We also have the different experiments like finding what’s inside a seed. The experiment that we are doing right now is called Color-Changing Leaves/Flowers using Celery stalks with leaves. Learning about plants is fun and very exciting.

In Social Studies, we have learned about the different Canadian Landscapes. We even did a collage of Canada’s beautiful scenery and landscapes. The next lesson that we have is all about Famous Canadians like athletes, entertainers, authors, scientists, and other notable Canadians. And then we will learn about the different people communities in Canada. We are also hoping to learn about other country.

In French, we have learned about Fruits and Vegetables, Farm Animals in French, as well as French Valentine words.

In Art, we love doing our Arts projects. For this month, we did two exciting art projects – Eggshell Art and Raised Salt Painting. Here in Grade 3, we take pride of all the fancy artworks that we do.

Please make sure that you are checking and signing your child’s agenda everyday. This is a great tool for communication between school and home.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please feel free to write me a note in their agenda or send me an email to grade3sgs@gmail.com.

Thank you, stay safe and keep warm.

Mrs. Francisco
