It really hard to believe that we are now on the fourth month of school - December. 

We have been busy preparing ourselves for Jesus' coming. 

At school, the kids are busy practicing and preparing for the Christmas Concert to share with their families. 

We may be busy, we still find time to do our learning in the classroom. 

In Language Arts, we are working on our reading comprehension about Advent and Christmas. In phonics we still continue enhancing our dictionary skills. And in grammar, nouns - common and proper, singular and plural. We practice our writing through our Gratitude Book and Family Book. We will be continuing with our weekly spelling program as well and adding special units.  

In Math we are working on our skip counting to 100 by 3’s and 4’s.  We will be working on our skip counting to 1000 by 5’s, 10’s, 25’s and 100’s.  We are also continuing to practice our addition and subtraction facts to 18 for quicker recall and accuracy. We always do our mental math practice do better strengthen our skills in addition and subtraction.  

In Science we are continuing our unit about Growth and Changes in Plants.  We are now learning about the parts of a flower. And we will learn about the types of plants. One is the coniferous tree, one example of which is the Christmas tree. 

In Social Studies, we are learning about respect and citizenship. How do we become better citizens at school, in the community and in the world. 

In Religion, we are talking all about Advent and Christmas and preparing for the coming of Jesus.  We are doing the Jesse Tree. Each day, we put up an ornament in our Jesse tree, read a passage from the Old Testament. It is nice to connect and learn about Jesus' ancestors.

December 8 - NUT Day, Wear Purple 2nd week of Advent 

December 9 - Early Dismissal 2:25 pm 

December 11 - Report Cards go home

December 15 - NUT Day - Wear Pink 3rd week of Advent 

December 16 - Christmas Concert 7:00 pm. 

December 18 - NUT Day - Wear TEAM Colors and Christmas Socks 

December 19 - NUT Day - Wear Purple 4th week of Advent, Wear Red and Green 

                    - Early Dismissal at 2:25pm.

December 22 - January 2 - CHRISTMAS BREAK 

January 5 - CLASSES RESUME

April I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break and some warmer weather and sunshine are in store for us this month.    In ELA, we continue to practice our skills through our weekly spelling program, phonics and journal activities.   We will be writing stories and doing some creative writing activities throughout the month of April.    In Math, we are continuing to practice our multiplication facts and strategies.   We are still practicing our 3-digit addition with regrouping and 3-digit subtraction with borrowing as well.   We will start learning division after spring break.   In Science, we are well into our new unit on Structures and Materials.   The students are really enjoying this unit so far and they will get the chance to build some bridges and test their strength later this month.   In Social Studies, we have been discussing Human Rights and learning about different organizations around the world that help children ...

 Wow! It’s hard to believe it is already June and the end of the school year is upon us. With that being said, we still have a lot of learning and fun activities in the weeks ahead. In Language Arts we are finishing up our last spelling unit for the year. We have started to learn cursive writing and will continue to practice our phonics, grammar, reading and writing throughout the month of June. In math, we finished up our fractions unit. We will start a short unit on time to end the school year. In Science, we are learning about different structures and the materials that are used to build them. We are learning about the different strengths of materials and how you can make a structure stronger by using different shapes, materials or designs. In Social Studies, we are looking at different parts of a map and how to read a map. We are learning about world geography and looking at the different continents and oceans of the world.   Wow!
